The project I am currently working on is about young Zetlanders and the environment. I have found a table showing the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers on this topic. In this essay, I will analyse the data and provide my opinion on the subject of the project.

According to the table, the most popular response to the question “What can motivate you to take part in environmental projects?” is “Learning more about their benefits” (36%), followed by “Learning more about environmental dangers” (22%). The least frequently chosen option is “Meeting eco-activists”, at 11%.

Comparing the data, it is clear that the percentage of respondents who choose “Your parents’ example” (17%) is noticeably higher than the percentage of those who opt for “Meeting eco-activists” (11%). This may be because teenagers see their parents regularly and are therefore more strongly influenced by their everyday behaviour than by occasional meetings with activists.

Notably, one problem that a teenager can face when participating in environmental projects is a lack of time because of schoolwork. A good solution is to organise short local activities at weekends and allow participants to choose tasks that fit their schedules.

In conclusion, I believe that environmental education at school is very important because it helps teenagers understand ecological problems and shows them practical ways to protect nature in their daily lives.
