The project I am currently working on is about young Zetlanders and museums. I have found a table showing the results of a survey conducted among Zetland teenagers on this topic. In this essay, I will analyse the data and provide my opinion on the subject of the project.

According to the table, the most popular response to the question “What can motivate you to visit a museum?” is “Interactive exhibits” (36%), followed by “Discussion club” (22%). The least frequently chosen option is “Selfie spots within the museum”, at 11%.

Comparing the data, it is clear that the percentage of respondents who choose “Discounts and free days” (17%) is noticeably higher than the percentage of those who opt for “Selfie spots within the museum” (11%). This may be because affordable admission removes a real practical barrier, whereas attractive photo locations are only an additional form of entertainment.

Notably, one problem that can arise for teenagers who are not keen on extracurricular activities is that they may consider museums boring and avoid them completely. A good solution is for museums to organise interactive workshops and short themed events that allow teenagers to participate rather than only observe.

In conclusion, I believe that museum visits can help teenagers with school projects because museums provide reliable information, real objects and visual examples that can make research more detailed and easier to understand.
