Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Space junk is the result of human activity in space. The more satellites and probes people send into space, the more space junk they create. At the moment, space junk doesn’t pose a huge risk to human exploration efforts. However, it poses a big danger to working satellites in orbit. These satellites have to move out of the way of all this incoming space junk to make sure they don’t get hit and potentially damaged or destroyed. Even the International Space Station has to consider space junk and move as not to get damaged by it.
Unfortunately, it is hard to remove pieces of space junk. Sometimes people succeed in removing old satellites from orbit, but more often they can’t do it. When there is too much space junk in orbit, it can result in a chain reaction where more and more objects collide and create new space junk to the point where Earth’s orbit will become unusable.
