Space exploration has changed the way people understand the universe. The first artificial satellite was launched in 1957, opening a new era of scientific discoveries. Since then, thousands of spacecraft have been sent into space to collect information about planets, stars and galaxies. Modern telescopes allow scientists to observe objects that are extremely far away from Earth. Some space missions travel at speeds of more than 50,000 kilometres per hour. Researchers study space because it helps them learn more about the origins of the universe and possible life beyond our planet. Although space exploration is expensive, it provides valuable knowledge and leads to the creation of new technologies used in everyday life.
