Speaker A. A lot of my friends have e-books and, well, yes, maybe there are some pluses about them, but as for me, I don't really want one. I think nothing can substitute a real book. You can smell the ink on the pages and touch it and feel it. It's such a special feeling when you buy a new book in a bookshop and take it home and read a couple of pages before bedtime. E-books can't give you that. It's just plastic and it may not be so good for your eyes, I suppose.
Speaker B. When you choose an e-book, you should pay attention to many things. I know it because I want to buy one, but I need to research the issue carefully not to buy the wrong thing. As far as I understand, the size of the screen is important, as well as the type of the display. The battery type is also something to be considered, as you don't want to charge your e-book too often, do you? I'd also like a multifunctional gadget to watch videos or listen to music.
Speaker C. Most e-books have LCD displays, and I think it's not a very good thing. Many people find such books convenient because you can read them before bedtime, even in the dark, but they just don't realise how harmful it is. First of all, it can damage your eyes, as reading in the dark puts an extra strain on your eyesight. Secondly, modern gadgets, including e-books, are one of the main reasons for insomnia, as the specific light from the screen makes it hard to fall asleep.
Speaker D. I love e-books, but I know some people think they are bad for your health. Well, such people obviously don't know about e-ink. It's a great invention for those people who don't want to keep piles of paper books on their shelves, but still love reading. E-ink copies real ink, that is, it looks exactly as if letters were printed in real ink on real paper. It's much better than LCD displays. The light in e-books with e-ink is not so bright, which is also good.
Speaker E. I just can't imagine my life without e-books. I've always loved reading, and before e-books stepped in, I had hundreds of books at home. They occupied too much space, and I can't say that my flat is spacious. When I bought an e-book, I understood how great they are at once. I donated all my paper books to the local library and now enjoy empty shelves at home. A small device, even the cheapest one, can keep about 2,000 books or even more.
Speaker F. E-books are not only a great way to save money, as paper books are so expensive nowadays, they're also very useful in learning languages. I've always wanted to learn German and tried to read German books in the original. E-books helped me to do that. The only thing I had to do was to download an electronic dictionary to my e-book, and that's it. I touch any word on the touch screen and get the translation immediately. It's magic!
