As for me I love summer camps. There I can master a lot of important skills that I might not be able to get elsewhere. For example how to be more social and get along with others and how to work well with others. Summer camp is where I've acquired some important leadership and teamworking skills. I've also learned how to start a fire in the woods how to identify if a plant is safe or dangerous to eat and some other basic survival skills.
Speaker B
I rarely go to summer camps as they cost a fortune these days. Of course it depends on which type of a summer camp you go to. In general local day camps may be free or relatively low-cost while sleep-away camps tend to cost more. My parents have to consider what is included in the price such as food various activities craft supplies and the cost of the staff members and camp counsellors. While sleep-away camps cost more there's also a lot more involved.

I have two siblings and the three of us go to a camp every summer. I guess it's not cheap for our parents to send three kids to a summer camp but they don't seem to have much of a choice. They work a lot and they just cannot allow us to roam free the whole summer. In a summer camp we're not alone we are fed and looked after and we may even learn something useful. It's important for our mom and dad to know we're safe as anything can happen without proper supervision.
Speaker D
When I went to summer camp a couple of years ago I expected it would be so much fun unfortunately I didn't like it there. There were several kids like me we just had to wait until the camp was over. I guess I'd just prefer to be at home with my parents and in the comfort of my room. Other kids had a hard time socialising or being around other kids their age when they didn't know anyone. I think parents should consider their kid's best interests when sending them to a summer camp.
Speaker E
I used to spend all my summers glued to my computer screen. I surfed the Internet or played computer games without leaving my room. Of course my parents wanted me to be more active and they thought a summer camp would be a perfect solution. I remember being in a summer camp for the first time — I was very busy doing something interesting and I liked it. Now I go to a summer camp every summer and I don't want to be a couch potato anymore.
Speaker F
I've always wanted to go to a summer camp on my holidays but my parents say no. I think it's because of those stories in the media about kids getting serious injuries in a camp or running away from them and getting lost in the woods. No one can convince them that modern summer camps are perfectly safe and that nothing bad can happen to kids while they are there. Who knows? My parents may be right I'm the only child in the family and they just worry about me.
