Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

Land pollution has its effect on people, animals and plants. That is why it is very important to stop land pollution as quickly as possible. Fortunately, there are several possible solutions to the land pollution problem, including conservation.

For instance, we can leave old trees in a forest to naturally die instead of cutting them down. We must also process waste and dispose of it in the safest manner possible not to create huge landfills with tons of plastic. We should stop using so much plastic. Even if you stop buying plastic shopping bags each time you go shopping for food, and get a cloth bag instead, this simple step will make a difference. Instead of throwing something away, think about a way to reuse or recycle it. You can turn to organic gardening practices as well and stop using dangerous chemicals in your garden. Fighting land pollution needs everyone’s effort.

Task 2. Study the advertisement.

A. This game is played and watched by more people than any other sport in the world. It is especially popular in Europe, South America and Africa. The rules are not complicated: two groups of eleven players try to send the ball into the opponent's goal. The group that does this more often wins. Once every four years, a major international competition takes place. This event attracts billions of television viewers worldwide.

B. Keeping one's body in good condition does not have to cost a lot of money. Walking, running and stretching exercises are available to anybody. Medical professionals suggest doing physical activities for about half an hour every day. A balanced diet is also very important. Consuming more fresh vegetables and fruit, as well as drinking water, can significantly improve a person's physical state. These easy habits help people feel better and stay active for longer.

C.During the last few years, a new kind of physical activity has appeared in large cities. Young people have started to run, jump and climb over buildings, walls and other constructions. This activity requires good physical shape, quick reactions and the ability to move well. It does not need any costly equipment — only comfortable clothes and trainers. Many young people find it attractive because it gives them a sense of freedom and power.

D. Physical activities have gone through many transformations over time. In ancient societies, people exercised to become stronger for hunting and fighting. They had no special clothing or footwear. The situation is completely different nowadays. There are large stadiums, modern equipment and professional teams. Sports can be watched on screens and mobile devices. Some traditional activities, such as running, are still common. However, new ones, like riding on snowboards, have also emerged.

E. This intellectual activity demands good thinking skills and the ability to plan ahead. Two opponents move pieces on a special board with the aim of taking the other player's most important piece. This game helps to improve memory, attention and logical reasoning. In certain cities, this activity can be seen in open public areas. Large outdoor boards with very big pieces attract many onlookers. It is a peaceful activity that is suitable for both children and adults.
